The proposed development would increase the supply of accessible, specialist and age-appropriate homes in Scarborough, to support an ageing population and meet local needs. It will enable residents to age in one place with independent living, assisted living and care facilities all on one site.

The proposed development will deliver a range of economic benefits including the following:

Capital investment of around £19.0 million

Uplift in GVA of between £2.9m and £3.6m per year

Supporting around 60 construction jobs
per year (full time equivalent – FTE)

Generating additional expenditure in the
local area

Delivering £5.7m GVA (economic output) per year throughout construction

Boosting Local Authority Revenue through Council Tax receipts

Generating up to 55 jobs (FTE) on-site and a further 20 indirect and induced jobs (FTE) across the wider region once the retirement village comes into use
